Happy Mother's Day Weekend
Hi All!
I am getting ready to go to a "Mommy & Me" day at school with Emma. The 1st and 2nd grade class has been planning this for several weeks now and Emma is practically vibrating with excitement. She has a smile on her face and in her eyes that I will not soon forget. I will admit that I am very excited also.
This weekend I will remember to appreciate my kids more. I plan on getting caught up in their excitemement over me and their undiluted anticipation as I open the Mother's Day gift that they picked out for me. I am going to kiss them and hug them a lot, and then I will kiss them and hug them some more. I might even bite on a few plumpy cheeks or nibble on a soft little ear. I will surely squeeze them as tight as I can without hurting them. I am going to hold them against me, feeling their little hearts beating against mine. Even Savannah, who is quickly reaching my height still relishes in being held. Isn't that what Mother's Day is all about? We need Mother's Day, at least I do. It reminds me to appreciate my precious babies all through the year because one day I will turn around and they will be gone. I don't want any regrets, although I know I will still have some. I am not quite ready to look up into the face of a big burly man who was once my son, or to see my sweet girls walk down the aisle on the arm of their father as they are given to another. For now they are mine, all mine, and I am going to cherish that. I hope that you will too!
XOX,
